This website is to warn readers about Star Buildings Systems www.starbuildings.com an Oklahoma manufacturer of steel buildings. They are located at 8600 South Interstate 35, Okalahoma City, Oklahoma 73149. Their email address is star.marketing@starbuildings.net. One of their agents (during early 2021 at least) is a convicted fraudster named Lee Waldroop, (Also known as Garland Waldroop II) promised to sell us a used Star Building frame with new star building sheeting, attachments etc and full star building warranty. He used a Star Buildings Supplied Authorized agent login to their site to generate us Star Building plans, engineering information etc. He then took $90,000 in cash from us, left a pile of rusty frames on our building site and disappeared.

He has worked the same scam with other innocent victims as well. We made Star Buildings aware of this fraud using their site, their plans etc and they failed to even respond.

We can only take their failure to respond to mean they either simply do not care about people being ripped off for tens of thousands of dollars using plans supplied by themselves or they have some kind of complicity in the fraud. Either way we strongly advise readers to look elsewhere for a metal building. Do your research and find a reputable company, not one that seemingly works hand in hand with convicted fraudsters and helps the fraudsters line their pockets with customers hard earned cash.

Read below for more details of our story.

June 2021 We were about to start construction on some metal buildings in Moffat Colorado. We were introduced to Lee Waldroop also known as Garland Waldroop II by our new neighbors at the site. This man was supposedly supplying them with a large Star Building supplied metal building, he was also erecting the building and living on the site. All seemed in order by first appearances.

Waldroop told us that he and his father had worked with Star Buildings for many years. In fact his father had won many national salesman of the years awards with Star Buildings. We confirmed this fact reading his late fathers obituary online. You can read it HERE

He said that he had some 150x50x16 used star building frames that star buildings would supply all the other material (channel purloins, sheet metal, fixings sealant, plans etc). He offered to sell us one for $90,000. We asked for discount if we purchased two and he said he would knock $20,000 off each building,. We said we would continue to purchase four if the first deal went ahead OK. We paid this man $70,000 deposit for the first two buildings (50% of the $140,000 purchase price). We then paid a further $20,000 for the next 2 buildings. We gave the man a total of $90,000 cash.

A few weeks later, we were still waiting for our metal to arrive when Waldroop asked us for an additional $20,000. We checked with our neighbors how their job was going and were shocked to discover they had had a huge fallout with Waldroop.  Apparently he had given them the wrong plans (again supposedly supplied by star buildings) and continually failed to keep his promises to them. He was also continually asking them for money. They had an argument and threw Waldroop off their property. He returned attempting to take his 'assets' as his called them. They called the Police and Waldroop was warned to stay off the property in future.

Of course this was very concerning to us. We told Waldroop of our concerns and refused to give him any more money until we had at least one complete building on our site. He then supposedly delivered the 70 structural frames required for both buildings. He texted us proof (see text and photos HERE for details) and again asked for more money. We refused again and he threatened to sue US for breach of contract. We had given this man $90,000 we had a pile of rusty metal to show for it and here he was threatening to sue us.

We later discovered that he had only delivered 43 pieces of the 70 required structural beams.

We launched a website www.leewaldroopinfo.com to warn others of this fraudsters actions. We discovered that he had served a jail sentence for bank fraud. The judge in that case called him greedy and gave him the max. Other victims found our website and stepped forward to say he had done exactly the same to them, promised a building, took large deposit and then ran off. Each time supposedly acting as a Star Buildings agent and purportedly selling a Star Buildings supplied building.

HERE is a link to a zipfile containing t he Architectural plans, engineer notes etc supplied by Waldroop to us whilst perpetrating this fraud. We have converted the AutoCAD files to PDF for those that don't have AutoCAD. You will notice that all the plans have Star Buildings on the them, their address at 8600 South Interstate 35, Oklahoma City Oklahoma 73149 and Star Buildings Telephone Number 405 636 2010

You will also note that he has Waldroop construction company listed as the builder on them. Finally you will see that the Estimator is GLRW II Garland Lee Waldroop II. This man is so brazen thinking he can get away with this stuff, he uses his own name on the fraudulent documents. It seems he has scammed many using this method but hopefully his scamming days are coming to an end.

Not only is he under investigation for this fraud, we are told that he is also facing serious charges of drug possession with intent to supply in the Pueblo Colorado court system.  He is currently out on bond whilst the charges work through the court system.

We emailed Star buildings to alert them of this fraud on the 9th November 2021 and again on the 12th November 2021. You would think they would jump right on this and ensure that they take immediate action  to prevent any further fraud and rectify any previous fraud perpetrated using their name and their plans. Well you'd be wrong to think that. They did not even have the courtesy to respond. Perhaps this fraudsters fathers ties run too deep with this company, we have no idea. But we do know that any company that allows this stuff to happen and does not take action to remedy it, they are a company everyone should steer clear from. If I can lose tens of thousands of dollars due to this company, then so can you. You may well prefer to order your building from someone who does not give authorized builder status or authorized agent login credential to fraudsters and knowingly or unknowingly assist those fraudsters in fleecing innocent victims such as myself of tens of thousand of dollars.

If Star Buildings were a company with any  morals, they would have righted this wrong. Charged us the $50,000 remaining on the contract for the buildings and made us whole on the 2 buildings that their rogue agent sold us using their name. Instead they choose to turn a blind eye to this blatant fraud. Shame on you Star Buildings.

Please share this page with any friends with connections to the building industry. Also if you have been ripped off by either Lee Waldroop or Star Buildings, please email me at terryferrari@hotmail.co.uk and I will collect any evidence you have to share. Depending on how many victims were duped using Star Building plans, I am considering filing a class action lawsuit against them for facilitating this fraud.

Update 26th November 2021

We have been contacted by an attorney for Star Buildings. They deny that Waldroop, Waldroop Construction, and GB Steel Erectors are or ever have been agents for Star Buildings. This seems hard to believe  as Waldroop seniors obituary states that he joined star buildings in 1970 and won many national top seller awards for them. He died in 2014, some 7 years before this fraud. They also refuse to assist us in any way even though we thought we were buying a used Star Building with everything else new apart from the structural frames. We were told that Star Buildings were supply all the new items direct and we believed that we were a Star Buildings customer. Despite all this, they just deny any involvement and refuse to help us solve how their systems were supposedly used to perpetrate this fraud or help us get the missing parts for our buildings. They don't seem too bothered that their company's supposedly good name has been used to steal up to $90,000 from one customer alone as well as from other customers. The full email from their attorney Bradley Graham can be seen HERE

We emailed Mr Bradley Graham the Star Buildings attorney on 24th November. We told him that we found it hard to believe the neither Waldroop, Waldroop Construction nor GB Steel erectors were ever agents of Star as he was claiming. We pointed out the software used the create the Star Buildings Plans used to defraud us was version 11.5A sp2. Also the plans were created on the 10th June, just one day before they were sent to us. We asked for help in identifying the person who created the plans used in this fraud. A full copy of the email we sent is HERE. Star Buildings did not even bother to respond. Very strange behavior for someone claiming to have no knowledge or involvement in this fraud. You would think they would be fighting tooth and nail to ID the person who sullied their good name and took $90,000 in cash from a customer who thought they were buying a Star Building.

Update 13th December 2021

Well as they say 'The plot thickens!!' Today we were copied in on en email between Conman Waldroop and Star Buildings Attorney Bradley Graham. As usual conman Waldroop is coming out with his standard lies and twisting of facts.  But there are a couple of crucial pieces of information in the email which can be seen in full HERE.

Firstly. Waldroop admits using his Star Buildings Systems program to draft the plans that were used to defraud us. So much for the Star attorney claiming that Waldroop was never an agent of theirs. It appears from the email that he was a Star dealer with full access to their design systems given by Star. Dealer or Agent is all the same thing in our eyes. Star must have known all this when they sent us the initial email claming the plans could have been 'manipulated'. Why would Star Buildings cover up for this fraudster? We have no idea. Why would they not be concerned that their plans were used to steal $90,000 in cash form a customer who thought they were buying a star building? Again we have no idea. Remember it was not just ourselves duped, our next door neighbors were also scammed by conman Waldroop who also gave them Star Building plans and told them they were buying a used star building. Star buildings have some serious questions to answer.

Secondly, Waldroop claims the following in his email. "And for the record, the Ferrari's wanted a sketch of their buildings and for purposes of convenience and materials lists I did go into my SBS program and design their buildings; however, I have my very own engineer and his name is George Miles and that is who will or would do their drawings for me". Oh so that's OK then, its all a big misunderstanding. We just wanted a likeness of our buildings which he why he gave us fake plans from Star Buildings System. Well actually no, that is a lie and we can prove it using Waldroop's own words. Please see copy of the text below from my wife asking Waldroop for a printed copy of the plans.

5th August 2021 9.54pm Pam Ferrari > Waldroop

When will you be sending the written plans out

9.58 PM Waldroop > Pam Ferrari

I sent you plans with the purchase agreement. I'm not trying to make an issue of this but it is part of the agreement. I gave an understanding because of the way things have gone. But now it has come time to complete what we have already agreed to

(note the plans he sent with the purchase agreement were the ones created on Star Building computer systems and the ones he was purporting to be genuine, no mention here of it just being a 'likeness'. He was just trying to get more money off us for drugs at this point)

9.59 pm Waldroop > Pam Ferrari

I can most definitely send you a hardcopy of the drawings

(again no mention of them being fake)

10.00 pm Waldroop > Pam Ferrari

In fact when I get back to the office I will do it tonight.

Why would anyone offer to send out hardcopy of plans if they were not purporting them to be genuine? Of course they would not. Conman Waldroop also used fake Star Plans to deceive our neighbors, he then used a different set of fake star buildings plans to deceive us. Star Buildings should have jumped on this and took steps to resolve it as well as leveling fraud charges against Waldroop. Instead this company with a turnover in the tens of millions annually implied to us that they had no connection with Waldroop and the plans may not even have been produced on their systems. Star Buildings should hang their heads in shame.

This matter is now subject to a criminal investigation. I understand that Star Buildings are assisting law enforcement in that investigation. I shall wait for the outcome of that investigation before deciding on our next steps.

If you are considering purchasing a metal building, I implore you to chose a company with at least some kind of moral compass. In my opinion, based upon my experience with them along with the the evidence above, that company is NOT Star Building Systems.

As for ourselves, we have since purchased two larger brand new buildings for $400,000 from a reputable company 'Metal Building Outlet'. We would highly recommend them to anyone considering purchasing a metal building. Their website is at www.metalbuildingoutlet.com

Please share this page with friends, family and anyone in the building industry.
